New Dirge of Cerberus scans

Some fresh Dirge of Cerberus scans have surfaced in a 4 page feature in the Dengeki magazine and as always there are yet more pictures of the combat gameplay and Gackt to scrutinise. Among these usual offerings however are a few stills showing more of the familiar FFVII faces that will be making an appearance in the game.

Translations of these scans from RPGamer reveal that among other things, Cait Sith will be a playable character in certain 'stealth' missions. The scans themselves can also be found at RPGamer.

Our thanks to forum regulars Ido_Alpha_Omega and CloudANDTidus for bringing these developments to our attention.

New Dirge of Cerberus Wallpaper, More

Thanks to Ido_Alpha_Omega for the contribution of an exclusive official Dirge of Cerberus wallpaper, which comes in three sizes and can be readily downloaded from the DC Images & Media page.

Under Secrets & Mysteries, the "Meaning of the Masamune Blade" page has been completely revamped. Now titled Origins of the Masamune Blade, this page contains both old content that's been revised as well as new info, not only about the Masamune, but also Cloud's Murasame and Yoshiyuki. Also, that same section's Inscription on Jenova's Helmet page has been updated with more info about the helmet's appearance in Advent Children. And in non-Secrets & Mysteries news, the Links page has been updated yet again.

A quick reminder: the deadline for the Advent Chibi fanart competition is December 1st! We have some cool Advent Children prizes for the winners, so if you haven't already done so, please get your entry in!

Finally, you may notice that, for the time being, the Updates section's ad space looks different. Starting this year, we are supporting Child's Play, a charity founded by the Penny Arcade crew to benefit children's hospitals. Please take the time to visit their site and send them a donation!

FFVII Bestiary Added, More

The Strategy section is now home to a Bestiary which contains images and information for Final Fantasy VII's enemies, bosses, and chocobos. Special thanks goes out to Colgo Kacol for his assistance during the revision phase of this project.

Also new today is another set of entries in the ever-growing list of Miscellaneous Cameos and References to FFVII, this time covering those found in Final Fantasy VIII.

Next, we have three new links up today, including two interesting Top Recommendations that I encourage everyone to check out.

And finally: Citadel Forums Admin Digital Holocaust is organizing an IRC chat for this evening. If you're interested, check out this thread for further details, as well as the Chat page for general channel information.

Have a good weekend, everyone!

The Reason Behind the AC Release Delay

Last week, we updated the AC FAQ with the news that Advent Children's N. American DVD/UMD release was pushed back 'till January 10, 2006. Anime News Network has recently reported that this was done "in order to facilitate a possible limited theatrical release". Thanks to various sources for pointing us toward this bit of news, and as usual, we hope to have more info as it comes in.

Staff Shuffle

With the new board up, there's been a couple of staff changes, which have been duitifully made note of on the Staff page. One of these is the reimplementation of the role of Oracle, which has once again been taken up by BlueJay. If you have any questions about gameplay-related issues pertaining to FFVII, he's the one to contact. You may do so at ff7oracle@yahoo.com; for future reference, this address can be found in the Strategy section's sidebar, as well as on the site's FAQ.

Also updated today are the Links page, the Advent Children FAQ (for the new expected North American release date-- yes, it's been pushed back again!), and the AC Merchandise page. Finally, I'd like to remind everyone that our Advent Chibi fanart competition is going on until December 1st-- get those entries in!
