Happy Holidays!

Seasons greetings to all! As per FF7 Citadel/Blueshinra.com tradition, I've done a special holiday illustration, a thumbnail of which can be seen to your left. If you'd like to see the full-sized version, just check out my gallery in the Fanart section.

Also up today is-- you guessed it-- four new chapters of Phoenix's Curse of Memory, which can be found in the Epics wing of the Fanfiction section.

I've heard that there's a new Advent Children trailer out, but that it contains possible spoilers (unfortunately, I have some idea of what said spoiler entails, but thankfully, I don't know enough details to have it fully spoiled for me). Once again, the Citadel is not accepting any new plot details for AC, but there is currently a discussion going on at our affiliate Adventchildren_ about this new trailer. If you'd like to know more, I'd suggest checking out that site.

Revealing New Dirge of Cerberus Images, and More!

As promised, I've got lots of content for today, the main ones being seven new screenshots from Dirge of Cerberus. Among these screenshots is one that is undoubtedly of Reeve, whose presence in Dirge we have speculated on before. Reeve is now the third FF7 character confirmed to be in Dirge of Cerberus, following Vincent and Cait Sith. The Characters and FAQ pages in the Dirge of Cerberus section have been updated to account for this new information.

Speaking of images, we also have a new section on the Images & Media page that contains the official CG illustrations for FF7. I've had many of these pictures in my possession for some time now, and have finally got around to sharing them with you all. These pictures all measure 1024x768, and are perfect for use as desktop wallpaper.

The Ghost in the Church page under Secrets & Mysteries has been updated yet again, this time with an observation from Phoenix45000 on a strange bit of dialogue that he found.

In the Fanfiction library, the very same Phoenix has submitted four more chapters of his epic Curse of Memory. Also new in Fanfiction is a poem by JetNoir titled "A Mother's Love", as well as an essay by me titled "On Fanfiction Writing".

Finally, there's a new Top Recommendation in the Links section and the Submission Policies have been revised slightly. Have a good weekend everyone!

More Advent Children Screenshots

Once again, Uncle Elmo has provided us with some very nice screenshots from Advent Children-- a whopping 88 stills have been added to or updated on AC's Images & Media page.

Other than that, there's a small update to the Links page. More new content is on its way soon, so stay tuned!

A little FYI: the Advent Children trailer that was screened at this year's Tokyo Game Show is now available on the official site (in the Trailers section, it's the one marked "Trailer 003").

The Original FF7 Hype

Today, we have a new page under Game Information about a moment in time from early on in FF7's development, when the game was slated to appear on the Nintendo 64! Included in this article are screenshots from a demo version of the N64 Final Fantasy VII, which actually features 3D versions of FF6 characters. Thanks go out to Tristan for contributing magazine scans of these images and their accompanying articles.

Under Downloads, there are two new files for users of FF7 for the PC. First off is the Chocobo Patch, which is highly recommended for anyone installing FF7 under Windows XP. The second file the Sephiroth Patch, which places this silver-haired villain in Cloud's role (and believe me, you haven't lived until you've seen Sephiroth in the Honeybee Inn!).

In the Advent Children section, I've compiled a list of all the AC merchandise that's currently (or will be) available. And finally, in the Article Archive for 2004-2005, there's a piece by me titled "What's Next for the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII?"

Tetsuya Nomura Interview Highlights

RPGamer has posted key details from a recent interview with Testuya Nomura, who was the original character designer for FF7 and is currently the director of Advent Children.

Among the details revealed are that Crisis Core, the fourth entry in the Compilation of FFVII, will be a traditional RPG, not an action one as was previously reported. In Before Crisis, new characters are still being added. And as for Dirge of Cerberus, Nomura said that the genre of the game is still unconfirmed, and that some of the characters who appear Advent Children will be present, but the stories of the two won't be completely connected. It has also been revealed that Dirge of Cerberus will "unveil some of the Turks' hidden plans"; what exactly this means, we're not sure...

Nomura also discussed Kingdom Hearts II, which is expected to contain cameos from FFVII characters, much like its predecessor.

"Compilation of FFVII" News and Other Stuff

In Advent Children news, CloudANDTidus submitted a link to a 1UP article about the movie's impending release. It seems like the movie is officially scheduled to come out in 2005, but a more concrete date is not yet available (and that new trailer they're talking about? It's presumably the one featured on a DVD insert in the latest issue of Young GANGAN, a biweekly manga magazine published by Square Enix in Japan).

Also, Pamela Verbeck seems to have identified one of the locations in Dirge of Cerberus, specifically the one seen in this screenshot. Notice the banner hanging from the building? It seems to say "Hotel of Kalm". Pamela also noticed that the architecture is similar to the style seen in Kalm. At any rate, the DoC FAQ has now been updated with this new observation, as well as info on a couple of other locations we've seen.

Images and Stories

Today, we have two more beautiful Advent Children screenshots courtesy of Uncle Elmo; they can be found on AC's Images & Media page.

Also new today are some fanfiction submissions. First up are four new chapters of Phoenix's Curse of Memory, which can be found listed under Epics. In the Short Stories category, we have "Death", a piece about Vincent Valentine written by Regent Cosmos.

Aside from those things, there's been a small edit made to my Guide to FFVII Collectables, regularly listed under Game Information.
