06/01/2007: "This Month's Theme, Crisis Core Update, Creator Interviews, More"

Our theme for June is dedicated to those loveable Shinra henchmen, the Turks. Thanks goes out to Sapphirez for creating this month's banner artwork! As usual, all of our previous themes can be found on the Tenth Anniversary page; in addition, the original artwork used in several of the banners may now be found there as well!

This is a little late, but a recent article in Dengeki PlayStation has revealed a few new details about Crisis Core. Right now, the game's development is nearing completion (director Hajime Tabata estimates that it's 90% done) and will contain 30 hours of gameplay for the main story; when sidequests and such are taken into account, the estimated completion time swells to 100 hours. Several details about the plot and gameplay system are also discussed, and of course, there are plenty of spoilers throughout. You can read more details from the article here. For today's site update, we have added two noteworthy interviews with FFVII's Yoshinori Kitase and Tetsuya Nomura to the Press Clippings archive. The first, which originally appeared in the UK gaming magazine Edge, became famous amongst fans as one of the first interviews where FFVII's creators discuss Aerith's death and the intentions behind it (thanks goes out to Tuulisti for the transcription). The second is from the US mag Electronic Gaming Monthly, and touches on FFVII's impact, the game's characters, and the Compilation.

Also new today on the site are small updates to Miscellaneous Cameos and References and the FAQ, a new piece of Cait Sith fanart by me, and the reopening of submissions.

Finally, I'd like to announce the departure of Seb from the staff—on behalf of the other staff members, we'll miss him and wish him well.

lol this is unexpected. I was expecting each of the turks to be featured but this looks better. Nice job with the banner. Can't wait for other characters to come.
