That yellow orb is Aeris. Yes, that's right, Aeris. Prove it, you say? OK, think about it. She could not be diffused into the lifestream yet so what is she doing? What would she want to be doing? Helping Cloud! Well, helping out as much as she could.
Look at the pic you provided. Look at the background. White orbs! Think of when you first went to the Temple of the Ancients. As you first approached, there was a black-caped clone up on top. As he died, he faded into the lifestream. Thanks to the location, we are able to see this miracle of nature. What happens to him? He turns into a white orb!!
Now look at the pic again. Aeres is not the only one who could not enter the lifestream yet. All those souls are floating around there waiting for. . . something. Then BAM! There's Cloud floating around, so they gather to see what's going on. Aeris, on the other hand, was more than likely watching and knew he was coming so she had to meet him and encourage him on. Cloud knew it was her; hence the phrase "...the Promised Land... I think I can meet her... there."
Now lets address the question, "Why was she yellow?" Her soul was connected with Holy. That relationship made her diffrent than the other souls around. She had a different power, therefore, a different light.
