Game Information | Poll Results (May 2003)Mid 2003, another small poll was held on the Final Fantasy VII Citadel, to find out the fans' feelings on various aspects of the game, as well as see how opinions had changed since the 2000 poll. As the results show, opinions of the game and characters have changed greatly.
Comment Well, again Cloud Strife takes the lead as post popular FFVII Hero, but the rest is a little jumbled from the previous year. Most interesting is the apparent "fall" of Tifa Lockheart, previously gaining 11% of the vote, she has now fallen down to only 1%. Aeris is again popular, and Vincent Valentine has made his way up to the second position in our poll. Other characters with less than 1% vote were Dio, Mr Dolphin, and Chocobos.
Comment Again, Sephiroth is the winner, with a the majority of the votes by far. This year however, sees some new additions to the top "villains" of Final Fantasy VII. Jenova, Dyne and Don Corneo making an apprearance on the list, with Palmer diappearing entirely, and Heidegger losing a fair bit of ground.
Comment In a dramatic change from the previous poll, Sephiroth has taken the lead in the "most attractive" poll. Cloud is down to the fifth place, after having taken the lead the previous poll. Our lovable red-headed Turk, Reno, also did well in this year's poll. Newcomers to this poll were Heidegger (er... okay....), Zack, and Wedge.
Comment Again, Tifa Lockheart takes the top position in the FFVII popularity stakes, with the results between herself and flower girl Aeris Gainsborough similar to the previous poll. This poll also saw the entry of Lucrecia and Ester to the race, with Scarlet "kicked to the curb", recieving no votes at all.
Comment Again this year, both Yuffie and Cait Sith were voted "most annoying", but this time with a twist. Cait Sith beat Yuffie to take the title this time around. Perhaps people have become more forgiving of our little Ninja? Scarlet and Heidegger also rated highly, and Cloud and Barrett also reached the ranks of "most annoying" for the first time. Others voted that there were no annoying characters.
Comment Another change from previous poll results here, with Tifa voted most compatible with Cloud. Voting was closer this year between Aeris and Tifa, with the majority now choosing the bartender over the flower girl. As with the previous poll, Barrett and Sephiroth made an appearance. Most amusing was the vote for "chocobo". The voter stated that this was because they both had the same taste in spikey blonde hairdos.
Comment Again, the majority of players enjoyed all aspects of Final Fantasy VII. Coming in second place from "All" was the plot, as with previous polls. Even after all this time, the game is still obviously considered to be excellent.
Comment A lot of changes from the previous poll here. This year, most the voters were disappointed with the plot holes in the story, and the confusion with the ending, which left more questions to be answered. Aeris' Death was down significantly from previous polls, suggesting that the sad event is reaching a level of acceptance among FFVII fans. Other voters would have liked to see more backstory or "history" put into the game's plot.
Comment This was the most dramatic change in voting in the 2003 vote -- the results of this question were reversed from previous years. In what could be described as a landslide, "No" voters won the day. Many no voters claim that while Aeris death is sad, it adds a level of depth and poignancy to the game, and by resurrecting her, the entire game experience would be "cheapened". A number of outspoken "yes" voters disputed this, but at the end of the day were vastly outnumbered. |
