Supporting Characters, A - F

Big Bro - A bodybuilder in Wall Market's gym, and owner of a wig that Cloud must obtain in order to complete his disguise to infiltrate Don Corneo's mansion.

Biggs - One of the members of AVALANCHE. Biggs perishes during the group's mission at the Sector Seven pillar.
Compilation Appearances: Biggs is one of several characters who appear in the short story, "Maiden who Travels the Planet", which is featured in the FFVII Ultimania Omega.

Bugenhagen - An old scientist who lives in Cosmo Canyon, whom Red XIII refers to as his "Grandpa". He has no legs and floats above the ground; how he does so has never been revealed. A former Shinra employee who loves machinery—but has never once used Mako—Bugenhagen knows a great deal about the Planet and the Lifestream, and has written a famous book titled "The Study of Planet Life". He also knows the truth about Red XIII's father Seto, which he reveals to the former during a trip to the Gi Cave.
Compilation Appearances: Bugenhagen can be seen in Before Crisis.

Butch - A materia seller in Costa del Sol who likes cute girls. If Yuffie is in your party on your first visit, Butch will temporarily hire her to help sell materia.

Chekov - The warrior on the third floor of Wutai's Pagoda of the Five Gods. Her battle form is that of a Twin Brain.
Boss Stats: Chekov

Choco Bill - The old man who runs the Chocobo Farm. He sells chocobo stables as well as overnight stays, utilizing the farmhouse as an inn.

Choco Billy - Choco Bill's grandson, who takes care of the chocobos. He can be found in the Chocobo Farm's stables, where he sells greens and Chocobo Lure materia, and provides you with information about raising chocobos.

Chocobo Sage - A strange being who lives in a small house on the Northern Continent, which is only accessible via the Highwind or a mountain-crosser chocobo. He can provide you with information on how to breed special kinds of chocobos.

Chloe - Choco Bill's granddaughter, who works in the Chocobo Farm's stables. She is the one who first tells you about the Chocobo Sage, and will take notes about breeding special kinds of chocobos, depending on what the Sage has already told you. She can also inform you which of your chocobos is the fastest, has the most stamina, and so on.

Cloud's mom - Lives in a small house in Nibelheim, next to the large one occupied by Tifa and her dad. When Cloud visits his mom during his mission in Nibelheim, she frets over him, and notably tells him that she believes an older girl would be good for him. Cloud's mom is believed to have perished in the fire set by Sephiroth.

Dio - The strongman manager of the Gold Saucer, who is represented by a large gold statue at the amusement park's pinnacle. Dio is the one who wrongly accuses Barret of murder, and sends him and the others to the Desert Prison. He maintains a museum of various artifacts in Battle Square, including the Keystone of the Ancients. To get the Keystone, Cloud must entertain Dio in the Battle Arena. After Meteor is summoned, Dio closes the Gold Saucer, then reopens it a while later.

Domino - The Mayor of Midgar, who is nothing more than a powerless figurehead in the employ of the Shinra. His office is on the 62nd floor of the Shinra Building, which also houses a library. If you figure out the puzzle of the library, you can obtain an item from Domino.

Don Corneo - The perverted proprietor of the Honeybee Inn, an informant of Heidegger's, and a well-known figure in Wall Market. Searching for a wife, he takes in three "candidates" every evening at his mansion. Taking advantage of this system, this is how Cloud, Tifa, and Aeris are able to find out that the Shinra plans to fell the Sector Seven plate. Once the Shinra finds out that this information has been leaked, Don Corneo flees to Wutai, pursued by MPs. In Wutai, Corneo kidnaps Yuffie and a vacationing Elena, which forces Cloud to team up with Reno and Rude in order to free them. Defeated by Cloud and the Turks in the Da Chao Mountains, Corneo is sent plummeting down from a sculpted stone hand, presumably to his death.

Dyne - Barret's friend, Eleanor's husband, and an opponant of Corel's Mako reactor. Upon returning from a trip from the under-construction reactor, Dyne and Barret find Corel under attack from Scarlet and her troops. They are fired upon, and Dyne falls down a crevasse. He resurfaces four years later when he massacres a number of people at the Gold Saucer with the gun-arm that has replaced his left hand. In the Desert Prison, Barret tracks him down and confronts him, telling him that his daughter, Marlene, is alive. Dyne gives Barret the Star Pendant (to give to Marlene), before plummeting to his death.
Boss Stats: Dyne

Eleanor - Dyne's wife, who perished when the Shinra set Corel ablaze four years prior. She is survived by her daughter, Marlene.

Elder Bughe and Elder Hargo - Two elders of Cosmo Canyon.

Elena - The newest member of the Turks, who was recruited onto the team after Reno suffered injuries while battling Cloud, Tifa, and Barret at the Sector Seven pillar. The first time the party runs into this rookie is in the Mythril Mines, where she spills the details about the Turks' mission and Sephiroth's rumored direction. She can be seen again in Junon, Gongaga (where Reno reveals that she likes Tseng), Wutai (where she is kidnapped by Don Corneo), the Temple of the Ancients (where Tseng asks her out to dinner), and Icicle Inn (where she attempts to punch out Cloud, believing that he's the one who attacked Tseng). The last place the party sees her is in the Midgar train tunnels, where they're given the option to fight her, Reno, and Rude.
Elena is headstrong and spirited, though she takes some time getting accustomed to Turk protocols. She also has a crush on Tseng.
Boss Stats: Elena
Compilation Appearances: Elena plays a minor role in Advent Children. She is also featured in a bit part in Before Crisis.

Elmyra - Aeris' adopted mother. Elmyra first found Aeris at a Midgar train station during the Wutai War, while she was waiting for her husband to return from fighting. The childless Elmyra took the little girl home with her after her real mother died, and they lived happily together. One day, Aeris told her that someone close to her had died; a few days later, Elmyra learned that her husband had been killed in the line of duty. Some years later, Tseng came to visit the pair, and it was then that Elmyra learned that Aeris was an Ancient.
After Aeris is taken away from Elmyra's house, Barret leaves Marlene in Elmyra's care as the party goes to rescue their friend.
Compilation Appearances: Elmyra is a minor character in "On the Way to a Smile: Case of Tifa".

Ester - The chocobo racing manager at the Gold Saucer. Ester works with Mr. Coates to turn prisoners into chocobo jockeys, which is how Cloud manages to escape the prison. Later on, Cloud can talk to Ester in order to join the races with his own chocobo. Upon winning twelve races with the same chocobo, Ester will give Cloud a gift consisting of a number of rare items.
