Character Cameos in Dissidia: Final Fantasy
Released in Japan on December 18th, 2008, Dissidia: Final Fantasy (official site, Flash required) is a role playing fighting game for the PlayStation Portable, created to celebrate the series’ 20th anniversary.
Dissidia features over twenty familiar faces from Final Fantasy's past, whom you can pit against each over in one on one battles in massive three dimensional environments. Fights start with both characters having equal BP or "Brave Points", with the aim being to steal BP from your opponent while keeping a hold of your own. The game also includes what is known as an "EX Gauge" (similar to a limit break), which increases a characters power and activates larger and more impressive attacks when filled.
Among the playable characters appearing in Dissidia: Final Fantasy is Cloud Strife and Sephiroth, voice acted by Takahiro Sakurai and Toshiyuki Morikawa respectively in the Japanese version. During the game it’s possible to unlock alternate forms of both characters through a point system, with Cloud dressed in his Advent Children outfit and Sephiroth available in his shirtless form. When his Ex Gauge is filled Cloud can also be seen switching from his Buster sword to his Ultimate Weapon and video footage has revealed an arena based on Final Fantasy VII’s northern crater is included in Dissidia.
It is unknown at this time when the game will be released internationally.
