Compilation of Final Fantasy VII | Crisis Core | FAQ

Last revised: January 18, 2008

  1. What is Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII?
Crisis Core (from here on referred to as CC) is a PSP game, and the fourth entry in the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII.

  2. What's the game about?
Crisis Core begins seven years prior to the original Final Fantasy VII, where Zack takes on a mission to find the AWOL SOLDIER Genesis during the Wutai War. The game also details how he first meets Aeris and Cloud; introduces new characters such as Angeal, Lazard, and Hollander; and re-introduces others from previous Compilation entries, such as Genesis (DC) and Shizune (BC). It also features detailed recreations of certain key scenes from the original FFVII—the "Nibelheim incident" in particular. In addition, what some of the game is about is alluded to in the "G Reports" found in Dirge of Cerberus.

  3. What type of game is CC?
It is an action RPG utilizing a slot-based system called "Digital Mind Wave", which draws upon Zack's memories to create special attacks. There is also an ability customization system involving the collection and combination of materia.

  4. When will it be available?
Both the regular and the limited-editions of the game were released in Japan on September 13, 2007. Only a regular version was announced for North America; which shipped on March 25, 2008, while PAL territories are scheduled to receive Crisis Core on June 20, 2008, with a limited edition version being available in the United Kingdom with a 48-page art book.
