Main Characters
Cloud Strife
Cloud Strife
As in FFVII, Cloud is the lead character. He has been working as a courier while helping Tifa care for a number of orphans, including Denzel. In addition, he is stricken with Geostigma (which has affected most of his left arm), retains a pervading sense of guilt over Aeris' death, and is still prone to those bizarre flashbacks. Despite these physical and mental issues, he's still one heckuva swordsman and sports a cool ride in the form of the motorcycle Fenrir.
Kadaj
Kadaj
The youngest of the "silver-haired men", the teenage Kadaj acts as the trio's leader. Out of the three, Kadaj appears to have the strongest ties to Sephiroth, and even refers to Jenova as "Mother". He fights Cloud and meets with Rufus on a number of occasions. His primary weapon is a double-bladed sword called Souba.
Tifa Lockheart
Tifa Lockheart
Along with Cloud, Tifa has been taking care of orphans and living in the rebuilt Seventh Heaven bar in the new city of Edge. Her relationship to the brooding Cloud is rife with tension.
Denzel
Denzel
A young orphan afflicted with the illness Geostigma, who comes under Cloud and Tifa's care.
Marlene
Marlene Wallace
The adopted daughter of Barret, who is now six years old. Though not affected by Geostigma herself, Marlene is one of the children who resides with Cloud and Tifa. She is also friends with Denzel.
Rufus Shinra
Rufus Shinra
The former President of the Shinra Electric Power Company, who survived Diamond WEAPON's attack and is now confined to a wheelchair, gravely ill with Geostigma. Now residing at the Healin Lodge, he has had a change of heart since the events of FFVII and wishes to have a part in rebuilding the world for the better. In these latter days, Rufus' only known companions are the Turks, who serve as his messengers and bodyguards.
Aeris Gainsborough
Aeris (Aerith) Gainsborough
A dear friend of Cloud's killed by Sephiroth in FFVII, it's been presumed that she has since returned to the Planet. However, there's unfinished business up on the surface that needs to be taken care of...
Sephiroth
Sephiroth
As with Aeris, Sephiroth's presence is very heavily felt in AC, most notably through Kadaj and his partners.

Supporting Characters

Jenova
The head of "Mother" is the focus of the silver-haired men's search; with it, they would acquire an incredible power.
Yazoo and Loz
Yazoo and Loz
Kadaj's partners in crime. Yazoo is the long-haired one who tends to fight with a gunblade-like rifle, while Loz has the short hair and fights with his fists and an electric shock device named Dual Hound. Both are in their 20s.
Reno and Rude
Reno and Rude
These two Turks—and longtime friends—are still working under Rufus two years after Meteor. In terms of AC's story, they largely serve as comic relief, providing amusing moments such as one involving a mishap with Rude's trademark sunglasses.
Vincent Valentine
Vincent Valentine
Vincent first appears during Cloud's return to the Forgotten City, helping his friend battle Kadaj, Yazoo, and Loz. He later accompanies Cloud to Edge to fight against these new threats.
Barret Wallace
Barret Wallace
Along with the rest of the surviving party members, Barret comes to Edge to help Tifa and Cloud fight off the silver-haired strangers, the shadow creepers, and a new summon beast called Bahamut-Sin. His gun-arm can now transform from a cybernetic hand to a supercharged weapon.
Cid Highwind
Cid Highwind
Bringing everyone to Edge is the Captain, who now commandeers an airship called the Shera (Sierra in the Japanese version), named after his longtime housemate in Rocket Town.
Nanaki
Nanaki (Red XIII)
One of the very first characters to appear in AC, he's present in a remake of the "500 Years Later" epilogue from the end of FFVII. 498 years earlier, the quiet Nanaki is yet another character who comes via the Sierra to fight in Edge.
Cait Sith
Cait Sith
Apparently having ditched his giant moogle mount for Nanaki's back, Cait Sith comes to Edge as well, fighting against the group's new enemies with magic.
Yuffie Kisaragi
Yuffie Kisaragi
Finally, the original Materia Girl is back in action along with the others, her airsickness and obsession with those shiny colorful orbs still intact.

Cameo Appearances
Zack
Zack
Among Cloud's persistent memories are ones of Zack, the SOLDIER First Class who was on the Nibelheim mission with him and Sephiroth.

Tseng and Elena
Yes, Tseng survived his ordeal at the Temple of the Ancients. However, him and Elena seem to have met an ill fate during a mission at the Northern Crater. Did they survive? The answers are in AC...

Reeve
Heard but never seen, Reeve is an elusive figure in AC. His voice is only heard once, in a cell phone message to Cloud.

Monsters
Shadow Creepers
Shadow Creepers
Large, ethereal quadrupeds that appear upon the silver-haired men's command.
Bahamut-Sin
Bahamut Sin
A gigantic dragon summoned by Kadaj to tear up the Meteor memorial in the center of Edge. Its main flare attack is similar to that of the Bahamut summons from the original FFVII.

Pink Ribbon Locations

Each of the surviving party members from FFVII, as well as Marlene, wears a pink ribbon in AC. What follows is a list of where these characters have placed their ribbons.

  • Cloud Strife - upper left arm
  • Tifa Lockheart - upper left arm
  • Marlene Wallace - wears a large pink ribbon in her hair, which is braided into a ponytail
  • Barret Wallace - lower left arm
  • Nanaki - lower left foreleg, above his bangle
  • Yuffie Kisaragi - upper left arm and on her shuriken. As far as we know, she is the only character who sports two pink ribbons.
  • Cait Sith - upper left arm. It is unknown if Reeve also wears a ribbon.
  • Vincent Valentine - lower right arm
  • Cid Highwind - upper left arm
