Happy Holidays!

This years holiday postcard is courtesy of Reeve, who took a photo of a repurposed Advent Children keychain being used as an ornament on her tree. To see the full-sized version, check out the Happy Holidays gallery in the Fanart section of the site.

Following the call out for new fanart earlier this month we also have two new artist joining our gallery. Jeannine submitted two pieces of art to the Citadel, one depicting Rufus and the other Tifa, while Rebehm sent us a CG render of Aeris created in Bryce and DAZ Studio. Again, both can be found in the Fanart section.

Happy Holidays to all our visitors, and I hope you look forward to some of the exciting new content we have planned for the new year.

Dissidia Available in Japan This Thursday

Just a quick reminder that Dissidia: Final Fantasy will go on sale on December 18th in Japan. For those considering importing this title (which, like all PSP games, is region-free), we recommend Play-Asia, which will carry both the regular version and the PSP bundle.

Some notable Dissidia merchandise will follow in the coming weeks and months. Among them are the Original Soundtrack (which will be available in both regular and limited edition versions) on December 24th and Trading Arts in February 2009. On sale now are Dissidia-themed Potions, the latest in Square Enix and Suntory's line of limited edition, gross-tasting "health" drinks.

Meanwhile, Famitsu has reviewed Dissidia, giving it a respectable 36/40, and according to this IGN report (previously mentioned here) today's episode of popular Japanese show Game Center CX will feature a five-minute Dissidia trailer, which will include a surprise at the end.

Fanart, Character Cameos and more

For today's update, the Fanart page has seen a substantial navigation revamp to make it easier to use and to give visitors a much more vibrant, fast and dynamic viewing experience. To coincide with this update long time contributor and Citadel staffer Reeve has added four new pieces to her gallery. As a reminder we continue to accept fanart submissions to the site, along with fanfiction. For more information see our submission policy.

Elsewhere on the site we have a new page under the Character Cameos sub-header of the General Information page, dedicated to Dissidia: Final Fantasy, following the recent round of news and buzz on the game. As a side note, the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII and Technology pages have received minor updates and corrections.

More Dissidia Details

IGN has a tidy summary of Famitsu's latest Dissidia: Final Fantasy article. Among the details are the inclusion of alternate character forms, which are unlockable through a point system. These "Another Forms" include Cloud in his Advent Children outfit and a shirtless Sephiroth.

Several other details are covered, including the latest confirmed character (Shantotto from FFXI), the possible appearance of "something related to FFXII", and the game's "Museum" mode.
