The Forums Have Moved

The Citadel's Forums have completed their long-planned move back to an AcmlmBoard. Regulars will want to change their bookmarks to forums.ff7citadel.com and create a new account; newcomers, of course, are always welcome to join (and please don't forget to read the Forums' FAQ!). Hope to see you all there soon!

On a related note, I'd like to formally welcome Clyde Strife to the staff. She is now co-moderating (with Seb) our new FFVII Compilation sub-forum.

FFVII:AC Cloud and Fenrir Play Arts Coming to U.S.?

NYC-based anime specialty store Image Anime, among other retailers, now has the Advent Children Cloud and Fenrir Play Arts figure set available for preorder for the price of US$75.00, and with a release date of February 2006. Speculation has been circulating for awhile that this excellent figure set-- which has only been available as part of the limited-edition Advent Pieces box-- would become available outside of Japan, and it looks as though this has come to pass. We hope to have more information about this release as it becomes available.

Site Updates: "On the Way to a Smile", Last Order, More

In the Advent Children wing of the Compilation of FFVII section, both short stories that make up "On the Way to a Smile" have been added. Also in that section, the page on Last Order has been updated with a list of this OVA's several contradictions to the original FFVII.

The Secrets & Mysteries section also has two updates today: an observation regarding a certain sign in Advent Children can now be found under Aeris and the Loveless Play, and the ever mysterious Mystery Panties have been added to the short list of Hidden Key Items.

Finally, JetNoir's fanfic Midgar Story has been updated; you may find this fic in the Epics wing of the Fanfiction library.

Advent Children's Strong Sales Figures, Festival Screenings

In Japan, AC is still selling strong, though sales have tapered off a tiny bit since the first week. Over 700,000 units have been sold thus far; this figure includes sales of the UMD and all three DVD editions (regular, first press, and Advent Pieces). To give you some idea of how big this sales figure is, this story at 1UP puts it into persepctive; meanwhile, GameSpot's own story on the sales also notes two upcoming festival screenings of AC-- at the Montréal Festival du Noveau Cinema and Spain's Catalunya International Film Festival.

Thanks to CloudANDTidus for the initial tip!

Jenova's Helmet Mystery - Solved!

The Inscription on Jenova's Helmet page has been updated with a special piece of information-- what the inscription actually says. This information was found on the Advent Pieces bonus disk, which includes high-res versions of various FFVII FMVs in the intro of "Distance" (the Advent Children "making-of" documentary). Having verified it for myself, I can say that this information is genuine. And speaking of AC and Jenova's Helmet, we now have a translation of the kanji that appears on that version of the helmet, which can be found on the same page.

Also, I'm temporarily closing submissions for everything except news items, as there's currently a large number of pending submissions I still have to take care of. As usual, once submissions are open again, I will announce it here.

Another Small Update

For today's update, Yuronova's fanfic Sacrifices has two new chapters; you may find this work in the Epics wing of the Fanfiction library. Also, an interesting new theory about the "Yellow Orb" has been posted, and more information about the possible German-language origins of "Nibelheim" has been added to the FFVII Name Origins page.
