Crisis Core Play Arts - Confirmed!

Once again from Square Enix Members comes pics from San Diego Comic Con, including a close-up shot of those Cloud and Zack figures we mentioned yesterday. They are indeed Crisis Core Play Arts, and rounding out the set is Aerith. The blog says that the figures are "coming soon"; any further information is currently unknown.

One thing which I overlooked from yesterday: in that same first photo that shows the Cloud and Zack Play Arts, there also appears to be a set of Final Fantasy Dissidia figures in the background, two of which seem to be Cloud and Sephiroth. Once again, if more information comes our way, we'll be sure to post it.

Rumor Mongering: Final Fantasy VII on PS3

As expected, a big rumor has surfaced thanks to recent cryptic comments made by Square Enix personnel. This time around, PlayStation LifeStyle has posted a rumor that the PS3 will be getting Final Fantasy VII in some form—a remake or new Compilation entry—and that it will be exclusive to the platform. In addition, the original FFVII is rumored to be surfacing on the PlayStation Network download service before the end of the year.

As CloudANDTidus noted in the comments of our post about the upcoming DKΣ3713 announcement, the most recent episode of 1UP Yours hinted that whatever will be announced at the event will swing Square Enix's focus away from the Xbox 360 and back to PS3, which only serves to strengthen this rumor. In addition, game industry tipster Surfer Girl has alledged that Square Enix is remaking games for PSN, but said games are "not full-fledged remakes", which leads one to wonder if FFVII is due for release on PSN as an enhanced port.

Square Enix's official line on the topic? It's no surprise; according to Eurogamer, the company has dismissed these developments as "rumor and speculation".

Just a small update today, the final chapter in Jacinth Nun's epic, 'The Queen of Midgar', has been posted. For those who have been keeping up with this story, your long awaited conclusion is here, and if you haven't the full eight chapters story is well worth a read.

A small addition has also been made to the Final Fantasy VII Name Origins page, where contributor Bandage has provided some additional information behind the meaning of Aeris' name.

Upcoming "Shocking" Announcement Tied to Advent Children Complete

In the wake of the recent announcement of Final Fantasy XIII's forthcoming release on the Xbox 360, 1Up.com conducted an interview with the game's producers, Shinji Hashimoto and Yoshinori Kitase. Towards the end of this interview, the long-awaited Advent Children Complete is brought up as a topic:

1UP: Last week, Final Fantasy Versus XIII director Tetsuya Nomura said that he's hard at work adding new scenes to the FFVII: Advent Children Complete Blu-ray release. Can you give us any update on that project?

SH: You can look forward to the upcoming invite-only fan event DKS3713 [taking place in Tokyo on August 2 and 3], where we'll have a major announcement that will shock the fans in attendance.
While it's not explicitly stated that this announcement will be Final Fantasy VII and/or Advent Children-related, it is well within the realm of possibility. Let the speculation begin!

Today, PSP Fanboy has reported on the latest titles to hit the PlayStation Store in Japan. Amongst other titles now available for download this week is the Squaresoft fighting game Ehrgeiz, which features cameos from a handful of FFVII characters. Unfortunately, as is the case with the other Squaresoft and Enix PS1 titles released thus far, it's currently unknown if this game will be made available on the PlayStation Store in other regions.
