05/01/2008: "Happy Birthday to Us, Site Update, and an Announcement"
For over a year now, we've been honoring the 10th Anniversary of the original Final Fantasy VII with monthly site themes. With this month, the Citadel marks the end of this celebration with another anniversary—our own. This month's banner should be familiar to longtime visitors of the site: it's a remake (so to speak) that I put together based on Ambigore's original from 2001 (archived in the Museum). The Aeris sidebar is also based on an earlier design, one that had graced the site at least as far back as 2000. With this new theme, I'd like to officially retire the Advent Children-themed look from before and return the site's design to its roots—FFVII itself.
Now, for the site updates. Well over a hundred official screenshots have been added to Crisis Core Images & Media, while Crisis Core Characters has been updated for two cameo appearances. Elsewhere, Retroactive Continuity in the Compilation has seen a small addition to its Crisis Core section, two new fanart pieces by me are now available, and the Press Releases and Links sections have been updated with new additions.
Finally, I'd like to announce that this is my final post as Webmaster; I am stepping down from this role and taking over the News Editor position from Ex-SOLDIER (who has a lot on his plate already as Forums Administrator) while continuing to serve as the site's Host. With that said, I'm pleased to announce that the Citadel's new Webmaster is CloudANDTidus. He's been an invaluable part of the Citadel's staff and community for quite some time now, and I know that he'll do a fantastic job as the latest in a long line of Citadel Webmasters.
When I first came to the Citadel eight years ago, I never dreamed that I would one day be running the place. The job has seen its share of headaches, of course, but it's also been a great experience, and yeah, I'll miss it. This place means as much to me as Final Fantasy VII itself; maybe even more than that. I hope that my contributions as Webmaster have done justice to the site as a whole.
Thanks to everyone who's supported me as the Citadel's Webmaster—staff, contributors, and visitors alike. See you on the Forums!
