Square Enix at Jump Festa 2007

Square Enix have announced their lineup for Jump Festa, an anime & manga event being held in Japan on the 16th and 17th of December. The lineup will include all of the Compilation of FFVII titles including Advent Children: Complete, an extended HD edition of the film to be released on Blu-Ray DVD. Crisis Core, the upcoming PSP prequel due for release in Japan sometime in the spring will also be present, and will reportedly be playable. Having only been shown in video format up until now, we can finally look forward to getting some insight into how the game actually plays.

Watch this space for developments.

New Epic Fan Fiction

Today we have a new epic fan fiction, courtesy of popular author Enkida. ‘Ain't Like I Planned’ is a tale set five years after Meteor staring Cid and his troubled relationship. Please note that this story is rated R and should only be read by mature readers. You can find the first three chapters by clicking here. Expect more in the near future.

Also a brief note, please remember that submissions have a dedicated e-mail address, which can be found on this page. Please do not use the main Citadel address. Thanks.

World Map, Staff Shuffle, and Other Stuff

For those of you who remember the Citadel's old roleplay site, one of its most useful features, the World Map, has at long last been added to the FFVII Encyclopedia under Game Information.

In other news, as many of the regulars may know, there have been some changes in the Forums' staff lately. Ludo and Scott have stepped down from their posts as Administrator and FF Discusssion/Compilation Forum Moderator, respectively. Taking their places are Jin (Administrator) and CloudANDTidus (FF Discusssion/Compilation Forum Moderator).

Finally, the Citadel is once again supporting Child's Play this year. If you can, be sure to take some time out from your holiday shopping to send a little something their way!

Final Fantasy VII on your PSP?

The possibility of playing Final Fantasy VII on your PSP is now much closer. According to engadget, the new PSP Firmware update will allow your PSP to support downloaded PSOne games. A few PSOne titles are already available for download in Japan but it's still not certain whether FFVII will be among them when the list gets bigger. However at the moment there is a slightly bigger catch. Unless Sony choose to provide an alternative, you'll need a PS3 before you can download any games for your PSP as the store can only be accessed via Sony's new console.

Additonally in the unlikely event that you actually have a PS3, you may encounter a minor problem playing Final Fantasy VII on it. According to Sony's Compatibility Listing, FFVII suffers a slight display anomally on the PS3 with other PSone Final Fantasy games suffering similar graphical problems. Dirge of Cerberus and Final Fantasy X appear to be unaffected.

Finally a reminder to any PAL region gamers. Dirge of Cerberus is now in stores.

Official DoC PAL release date & London VGL concert.

Square Enix have at last confirmed the PAL release date for Dirge of Cerberus. The game will be available in the shops on the 17th of November (and not the 24th as was reported back in September).

In other news, a Video Games Live concert will be taking place at the Hammersmith Apollo in London later this month on the 25th. Although no specific playlists are available, the organisers claim music from Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts are played as well as music from many other game franchises (and you can always drop a request in the VGL forums). Tickets are still available through the Video Games Live site.
