FFVII Production Art, Advent Children on Cable?

Jen0va99 over at our affiliate Adventchildren_ has posted some amazing scans from the recently published Final Fantasy VII Ultimania Omega, including numerous pieces of production artwork. Among the art included are early sketches of Cloud, an alternate color scheme for Yuffie's outfit, and production drawings of Bizarro Sephiroth and Safer Sephiroth. If you're at all interested in the history and/or the making of FFVII, be sure to check them out!

Also on Adventchildren_, Satora-chan has posted news that a commercial for Advent Children is now airing in the United States. Apparently, this ad, which has been seen on either Starz or Encore, is a previously-released trailer. Will AC be airing on one of these cable channels? We hope to have more info soon.

OFFICIAL U.S. Release Date for Advent Children

Thanks once again to Trevman77 for verifying the U.S. release date for both the DVD and UMD for Advent Children as November 29, 2005. The DVD suggested retail price is $26.96, while the one for the UMD is two dollars higher. A listing of some of the featured extras in the two-disk DVD set can be found in our previous update. For the record, this information comes from a video rental industry magazine, and thus is very much an official source. Mark your calendars!

In the meantime, AC has been doing very well in Japan, as 93% of the first run of the various DVD and UMD editions have been sold, for a total of 421,000 copies-- and that's just in the first week! Thanks goes out to CloudANDTidus for this info.

Nomura on FF7 remake

In an interview with 1UP, Tetsuya Nomura, the character designer on Final Fantasy VII, fanned the rumours of a FF7 remake by alluding to his desire to work on one. Rumours and expectations have been higher than ever since the PS3 Technical Demo was screened at E3 and Nomura's statements are the among the first indication of any remake even being considered.

Fans shouldn't get too excited however. No official statements, announcements or confirmations have been made at all and Nomura himself admitted that he would be unable to work on such a project for quite some time due to other commitments.

Thanks go to memory to ZacK from the forums for the 1UP link.

Official Novelisation revealed

A Novelisation focusing on events prior to Advent Children has been made available on the official Japanese AC website.

The story is titled 'On the Way to a Smile' and appears to revolve around the character of Denzel. Focusing as it does on Denzel and revealing things such as the identities of his parents, it could be assumed to be the story of Denzel at this early stage. However, with only a few loosely drafted translations circulating, details of the novel remain sparse until more accurate translations of the Kanji become available. Watch this space!

Thanks go out to Digital Holocaust for the link and information!
