Nomura: Still No Remake, More Cloud Cameos Possible

This is old news to anyone who has been visiting the Citadel for some time now, but although some at Square Enix have expressed interest in it, the company is not going to be making a Final Fantasy VII remake at any point in the near future. FFVII co-plotter, character designer, and battle visual director Tetsuya Nomura most recently emphasized this point in Famitsu, saying, "Fans are looking forward to an oft-rumored remake of FFVII, but I don't believe this will happen for the time being."

The comments appeared in a regular feature about video game characters, and this week's installment focuses on the iconic Cloud Strife. About Cloud, Nomura says that "it's possible that he will appear in other titles as a guest character." Given that Cloud has already shown up as a guest star in several games (often alongside other FFVII characters), it's not much of a stretch to say that there's some truth to this, and we haven't seen the last of his cameos.

Rumor Mill: Dissidia on PS3 and 360

A site called The Bitbag got a scan of a page from an unidentified Japanese game magazine that shows Dissidia: Final Fantasy as coming out for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Whether or not this will be a straight port or an enhanced edition (a la Universal Tuning), or even if this news is real at all, is currently anyone's guess.

As usual, we'll keep an eye on this rumor and keep you all updated, especially if it turns out that there's some truth to it.
