01/23/2010: "Nomura: Still No Remake, More Cloud Cameos Possible"

This is old news to anyone who has been visiting the Citadel for some time now, but although some at Square Enix have expressed interest in it, the company is not going to be making a Final Fantasy VII remake at any point in the near future. FFVII co-plotter, character designer, and battle visual director Tetsuya Nomura most recently emphasized this point in Famitsu, saying, "Fans are looking forward to an oft-rumored remake of FFVII, but I don't believe this will happen for the time being."

The comments appeared in a regular feature about video game characters, and this week's installment focuses on the iconic Cloud Strife. About Cloud, Nomura says that "it's possible that he will appear in other titles as a guest character." Given that Cloud has already shown up as a guest star in several games (often alongside other FFVII characters), it's not much of a stretch to say that there's some truth to this, and we haven't seen the last of his cameos.

That's right, no remake. Despite FFVII is my favourite game ever, we don't need a remake to ruin the game for us. Hey new gamers: Want to play FFVII in HD? Though, play the classic and good one. ;)

Haha, like that's possible. Some people will definitely forget about the classic one. But whatever, young gamers just care about the ****ing graphics.

I've been a hardcore gamer for 20+ years now, ever since the eighty's pac-man arcades. I want a remake. Those of you pissing and moaning about how it will ruin the original, no one will force you to buy it or play it. If you choose to, and it ruins the original for you, that's your own fault. Let's not forget it's just a game after all. "Oh my god, my life is ruined because they screwed up the FF7 remake! I might as well kill myself!" Grow up and stop being selfish.

I've been a hardcore gamer for about the same time pal, and I speak for many FFVII fans. Tell me one thing: if the remake is made, which game will the new generations play, FFVII classic or the remake?? Is it fair that the classic one is forgotten? Now a new gamer says: "WTF, those are a blocky graphics!! But hey, those graphics are way better!! I'll play the remake for sure!!" That happened to Resident Evil and if the FFVII remake is made it will happen to our favourite game.
