Crisis Core Tidbits: Screenshots, Preorder Bonus

Via Kotaku, we've learned that PlayStation Universe has posted fifty new Crisis Core screens. As always, keep in mind that potential spoilers may be present.

Elsewhere, PSP Fanboy reports that a Shinra-themed UMD case will be included with Crisis Core preorders, at least in the United States. As of this writing, this bonus is only shown for preorders at Amazon.com, but certain other retailers are expected to carry it as well.

Fanfiction & Article: The Queen of Midgar and Loveless in Crisis Core

Today we have two new additions to the Citadel's archives. Fanfiction writer Jacinth Nun is back again this week with two new additional chapters to the epic story "The Queen of Midgar". In an alternative reality, Tseng, Reno, Rude and the rest of the Turks must find the kidnapped president, before Shin-Ra Corp collapses completely. It's rated PG-13, and is worth a read!

Our other new entry comes from new Citadel submitter Mitsuki Shiroi, who has sent in an analysis of the Loveless quotes that appear in Crisis Core. Mitsuki found the quotes inside the game, often spoke by the character Genesis, and has roughly translated and interpreted their meanings. This article is a very interesting read, and a topic that perhaps can be made clearer upon the games English release. In the mean time, it contains Crisis Core spoilers, so beware!

That's all from me today. Please read the submission policy carefully if you wish to send us your work, and I'll see you all again soon.

New Black Mages Album Coming in March

Nobuo Uematsu's Final Fantasy rock band The Black Mages is coming out with their third album, The Black Mages III: Darkness and Starlight, on March 19th. The final track list is currently unknown, but at least one track—Final Fantasy VII's own "Opening - Bombing Mission"—has been confirmed via a sampling on the album's official website.

The album will retail in Japan for ¥2,800 (including tax) and is being published by Uematsu's own label, Dog Ear Records. If you've never heard The Black Mages before, their first two albums are among the many Final Fantasy selections available for download at the iTunes Music Store, and in CD format at several import specialists.

Yet Another Crisis Core Trailer

Square Enix North America's official Crisis Core site has been updated with a new teaser trailer called "Episode 1: Zack and Angeal"; the company will follow it up with "Episode 2: Genesis and Sephiroth" next month. There isn't much here that we haven't already seen in previous trailers, but it's worth checking out if you'd like to refresh your memory as to how the game's FMVs will look. Click on the "View Episodes" link to see the trailer, and "Angeal & Zack" for profiles for those two characters.

Happy New Year! This Month's Theme, More

Here's wishing all of our visitors a fantastic 2008! Our first Tenth Anniversary theme of the year features three of the very first characters one meets in Final Fantasy VII: AVALANCHE's Biggs, Wedge, and Jessie. Thanks goes out to Hyperionwitch for this month's banner artwork. As usual, all of the previous themes are archived on the Tenth Anniversary page.

For today's new content, we have a handful of exclusive Crisis Core screens now available via the CC Images & Media page, once again courtesy of Daneder, as well as some minor revisions to the CC FAQ. Finally, submissions are once again completely open.
