09/13/2007: "Scenes From the Crisis Core Launch, Hades Prepares to Freeze Over"

Chris Kohler of Game|Life is currently in Japan in preparation for the Tokyo Game Show. While there, he went out in search of the limited edition Crisis Core PSP (both it and the game itself come out today). He's posted several photos from the line as well as shots of the PSP itself.

Next up is a possible confirmation of the current rumor to end all rumors. Apparently, if you beat Crisis Core twice, you'll be treated to a special movie that looks a lot like the PS3 tech demo. However, this movie ends with the words "to be continued in Final Fantasy VII". Not going to mention the "R" word here; just take from this what you will. In the meantime, read the whole story and see the screenshots at your choice of Kotaku, the NeoGAF forums, and/or Jeux France.

Well, maybe, since Crisis core is a prequel, they just say "to be continued in Final Fantasy VII", because it actually is the continuation of the game... I don't see Remake written anywhere... sorry...

Granted, it could be nothing, but considering that CC has to be played through twice to access this movie, and considering Square Enix's past history with hidden endings (exhibit A: the KH franchise), I have to wonder.

I have the game, and I've been playing it for around 15-20 hours. If you have any questions regarding the game that you want answered and added into the Citadel, feel free to e-mail me and I'll give all the information I can.

Daneder: Well, article submissions are still open-- how about a review? ;)

Even though I'd love to review the game, I'm afraid the most important aspect of the game, the story, would be mostly excluded from the review, seeing as I've little knowledge in Japanese (which, oddly enough, hasn't kept me from progressing through the game rather easily). If you'd like me to write my impressions of the rest of the game (or just provide some random details), I'd be more than willing to. ;)

Gameplay impressions are fine; my own review of DC talked very little about the story (and bah, gameplay is always at least as important as story!). You don't have to include this, but I'm also curious to know whether or not this game is really that import-friendly for non-Japanese speakers. Story notwithstanding, so far, sounds like it is!

All right, then. I'll submit my own mini-review by tomorrow. About time I contributed something to the Citadel-- you've covered just about anything else from head to toe! :P

No rush, of course ;) And please don't forget to follow the guidelines.

In the meantime, are you interested in some new screen shots? I've only started using the screen shot-capturing program a while ago, but I still have a few dozen screens of Crisis Core Nibelheim which you might find interesting. ;)

Wow a video out cable to hook the PSP up to a TV is a pretty cool idea; although I'd still like to see Sony rip off Nintendo's Game Boy Player so I don't have drop $200 on a PSP just to play CC.

If I'm going to buy a PSP just for it I may as well get the special edition CC PSP right? Too bad there's a limited number that are going to be quite pricey and hard to get a hold of.
