Remake will still have cross-dressing

In the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu (translated by Gematsu) director Testuya Nomura revealed a few additional tidbits about Final Fantasy VII Remake.

The big news is that the cross-dressing and Honey Bee Inn scenes are still in the game. "We’ve made it more modern. If we made the facility like we did in the original game, the physical unease would be staggering, so that was no good..." Nomura explained.

In addition to this, Nomura revealed that the game would have quite a few dialogue options, and new scenarios. While the main story itself will be faithful to the original, there are "countless number of new events" that will expand the story of Midgar. Finally we learned that the black mist in the trailer are "the watchmen of fate", mysterious beings that will appear before the party wherever they go.

Full length E3 trailer debuts with new details, pricing and Tifa

At Square Enix's E3 press conference a full length trailer for Final Fantasy VII Remake debuted. The trailer features our first look at Tifa, as well as a quick shot of Heidegger and President Shinra. On stage Producer Yoshinori Kitase revealed that they "anticipate two bluray discs worth of gameplay content" for the first episode, which will only feature the Midgar segment of the game.

"To do the whole story was going to be huge. And then when we actually did start planning out the plot for the first game, it hit us again that this is going to be a huge amount of content." Kitase explained in an interview with Games Radar. "At that point, we decided we're going to focus this game on Midgar and what happened in Midgar. And unfortunately, we can't say anything more about the future games after that, because we don't know ourselves, really. We really are still fleshing out that process and fleshing out what we're going to do for the second game in the project, and what kind of story is going to be in that, so we really can't tell you."

During the presentation an extended gameplay segment was shown, including the first boss battle with Guard Scorpion. During the demo it was also demonstrated that the action combat could be paused to allow you to select commands and decide on your next plan of attack.

After the conference the Square Enix store revealed pricing and editions. The Standard Edition is priced at $59.99/£59.99 and includes a Chocobo Chick summon materia DLC if you pre-order. If you step up to the Deluxe Edition for $79.99/£79.99 you get a steelbook case, hardback artbook, mini-soundtrack CD and Cactuar DLC, in addition to the Chocobo Chick. Finally for $329.99/£259.99 you can get the 1st Class Edition, which includes all of the above, plus a Cloud and Hardy Daytona Play Arts Kai figure.

A collection of new high res screenshots and artwork for the game have also been released and Final Fantasy VII Remake now has its own Twitter account.
