Final Fantasy VII Remake delayed until April 10th

Today Square Enix announced that the global release of Final Fantasy VII Remake would be delayed until April 10th, a month after its original release date of March 3rd.

“We are making this tough decision in order to give ourselves a few extra weeks to apply final polish to the game and to deliver you with the best possible experience.” Producer Yoshinori Kitase said in a message to fans. “I, on behalf of the whole team, want to apologize to everyone, as I know this means waiting for the game just a little bit longer.”

Remake demo coming soon?

It looks like we could have a playable demo of Final Fantasy VII Remake very soon!

Gamstat, a website that tracks the PlayStation Store, caught a glimpse of the demos listing on Christmas Day. This was followed a few days later by leaked videos showing both the opening cinematic and a full play through of the demo.

Since then data miners have started digging through the demo’s files and have released images of characters and locations that have yet to be revealed. Please be warned that this post also contains massive spoilers for how Remake differs from the original game.

We still don’t know when the demo will be officially released.

News roundup and site update

Apologies for the radio silence on the site over the last couple months. Life can sometimes happen at the most inconvenient of times.

To recap some of the news we’ve missed, a new trailer for Final Fantasy VII Remake premiered at The Game Awards and a bunch of new screenshots have been released, giving us some clues into how the weapon and materia system will work. The screenshots also show some memorable locations and the Choco/Mog summon.

Updated box art has also confirmed the game is a PlayStation exclusive until 3rd March 2021.

Finally in their latest Letter from the Producer LIVE, the developers of Final Fantasy XIV announced that Ruby Weapon will be added to the game in mid-February as part of The Sorrow of Werlyt side quest. Based on previous patch cycles for XIV, we can probably expect two other Weapon fights to be added in the next year. Fingers crossed we also get some VII music similar to the remix of Force Your Way that was added with the Eden raid series.

On a brief site update, I’m aware that the forums are currently broken, as well as the fan fiction and article archive sections. This is the result of a forced PHP upgrade by our hosting provider and I will have an update on the problem very soon.
