05/06/2011: "Final Fantasy VII at the Smithsonian"

The final lineup for the Smithsonian's planned 2012 exhibit, titled "The Art of Video Games", has been unveiled, and eighty games have made the cut, including your favorite JRPG and mine, Final Fantasy VII, which beat out Grandia and Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete for the honor.

Four games were chosen to represent each console featured in the show (per era in the case of the Windows OS); the other three for the PlayStation are Metal Gear Solid and FFVII's fellow Squaresoft titles Einhänder and Final Fantasy Tactics.

This exhibit will take place between March 16 and September 30, 2012 at the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, D.C.; like all the Smithsonian's museums, admission is free. The full list of games to be featured, in .pdf form, can be perused here.
