10/14/2010: "More on Tifa in Dissidia Duodecim, Crisis Core Development Tidbits"

This week's issue of Shonen Jump brings more info about Tifa Lockheart's appearance in Dissidia Duodecim. Among these is the news that Tifa's black Advent Children outfit will serve as one of her alternate costumes; a grainy pic of this getup can be seen at Siliconera. Naturally, her fighting style is hand-to-hand combat, and her roulette reels, used for her limit breaks in FFVII, make a return here. The oddest detail of all is that she seems to not know who Cloud is.

Meanwhile, over at the Twitter account for The 3rd Birthday, director Hajime Tabata has posted some tweets about an earlier project of his, Crisis Core. He says he and the Crisis Core staff regret not making event and limit skill scenes skippable, and reveals that CC was originally supposed to be a full-on action game, but the battle system was changed to be more RPG-like due to the staff's experience. Although these tidbits may not seem relevant to The 3rd Birthday on their own, in fact they seem to be lessons learned during CC's development; the newer game will have skippable events, and the staff was picked with making an action title in mind. A third message, seemingly unrelated to The 3rd Birthday, notes that a part of CC that would've focused on Zack and Cloud's escape from Nibelheim was cut out of the game due to the UMD format's space restrictions.
