04/13/2009: "The Compilation of FFVII: Done for Now"

We have reported before about key individuals at Square Enix saying that the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII has not yet ended, hinting at more entries in the franchise without giving any specific details. Now, the producer of Advent Children Complete has said that this release, which goes on sale in Japan this Thursday, marks the Compilation's "end for now". This quote supports Tetsuya Nomura's earlier statement: "We do have an idea for the next Compilation, and for the time being, that's all we can say. It won't start up anytime soon."

i was checking out the details of AC complete. did anyone else notice that Last Order isn't included? why would they take that out? it's great that we are getting On the Way to a Smile, but why take out content that was already there.

Last Order was only included in limited edition AC sets, even in Japan. That might've had something to do with it.

yeah, thats true about the limited edition. but this is supposed to be AC "Complete", but the last version included more extras. oh well.

It includes On the Way to a Smile: Case of Denzel so it hardly has "less" than the limited edition.

i guess i worded that wrong, i just meant it wasn't technically complete.

but it does have less extra stuff. it's missing last order, the books and the postcards. i just want one version to have it all.

i'm sure there will be an AC: Complete Collectors Limited Edition Collectors Set to fix that eventually.

jharkey: The version you're referring to (with Last Order and the other extras) is a limited edition. The regular editions of AC didn't have any of that stuff.

i understand that. i was just hoping for one release on blu ray that was everything. that way i only had to buy it one more time.

but i don't think last order was left out because of it not being the limited edition. in the new post of the interview with one of the movies animators it says:

"Case of Denzel was intended to be a bonus feature for quite a while, but it took the team a while to settle on traditional animation for the feature. It has no connection with Last Order, which has now been replaced in the canon by Crisis Core."

so it sounds like last order is just being left alone now since crisis core fills in that time "officially". it's too bad, i thought last order was really good. it makes sense though.

by the way, i wasn't trying to argue with anyone. i hope nobody took it that way.
