03/21/2008: "Interview with Crisis Core's Director: The Compilation Hasn't Ended Yet"

Via PSP Fanboy, we've learned that 1UP has posted an interview with Crisis Core director Hajime Tabata. Topics discussed include the nuances of the battle system, characterization, and the non-ending of the Compilation of FFVII:

1UP: Does Crisis Core mark the finale for the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII series?

HT: No, it does not. The Compilation's finale will take some other form.
Of course, what this "finale" is is currently unknown, but will doubtless be a subject of much debate amongst fans.

As a reminder, Crisis Core ships to North American stores this coming Tuesday, March 25th.

I'll put money down now that the finale is a PSP digital comic book with opera music.

Haha, good point, there. I just hope that it's a good homage to the original.
If we go by the emo-meter to predict who the next hero is I'd say...Sephiroth. Which means we get to bust out of the lifestream somehow. Should be fun.

Barring a remake (which they'll get to eventually), my money's on a direct sequel to the original game with Gack-- I mean Genesis as the main villain :P

^That was my guess as well. I figure the fan rumors/hype will be torn between another sequel game that takes place after DoC and somehow involves Genesis as the new villian or a FFVII remake.

I've beaten DoC and FF7 and own advent children and have no idea who genesis is, why would they pick such an obscure character?

Actually, I bought crisis core (and a psp) the day it came out and i now am familiar with genesis, except (spoiler cut) which confuses me as to why he would be the next villian
