08/04/2008: "Odds & Ends: Dissidia Release Info, Interview With Kanji Tashiro"

Amongst the other announcements from this past weekend's DKΣ3713 event was additional information pertaining to Final Fantasy Dissidia, including its release month in Japan (Dec. 2008) and news of a special PSP bundle and Potion drink.

Elsewhere, Anime News Network has posted an interview with Square Enix's National Manager of Merchandise, Kanji Tashiro. One of the topics discussed is FFVII:

Well, obviously Final Fantasy VII is still really popular, and while I can't speak for the entire team, to overview what Tetsuya Nomura has said in regards to the game in interviews, FFVII holds a special place in the development team's heart, so they want to revisit it as much as possible. Right now that same team is working on Final Fantasy XIII and Kingdom Hearts. Once they're done with those projects, they're probably going to revisit Final Fantasy VII. Regarding the merchandise, the characters from FFVII appear in a lot of other titles, so there are many different versions of Cloud and Sephiroth that haven't been realized as merchandise yet, so the fans can look forward to that.

Mr. Tashiro also notes that the Cloud and Sephiroth AC figures are probably their best selling items, and that the Cloud and Hardy Daytona Play Arts set has also been doing very well.

FFXIII my ass they want as just to keep knowing that the same team who had done FFVII is doing FFXIII so what

on Tuesday, August 5th, just me said

I agree, they think that if they throw that little bit of news out there that it will make FFXIII just as popular. But because of it being the same team maybe it will be just as great.

What really bothers me about this "huge" announcement is the fact I thought we had gone beyond paying for demos. Services like Xbox Live and PSN exist to deliver free demos over a little thing called the Internet.

People shouldn't be buying Advent Children Complete just for a freaking demo.
