07/19/2007: "Crisis Core Scans, Materia System Details"

Jeux-France has posted a set of new Crisis Core scans from Famitsu, featuring all-new screenshots and the confirmed appearance of yet another character from the original FFVII (potential spoilers, of course). Also featured are images of the summon Phoenix, as well as details about CC's materia system. It seems that not only can materia be obtained, but they can also be combined to make new ones or modify certain objects.

Looks like the chances of a fairly original game in the VII universe is starting to look a little slim. I guess the other characters worked for the other compilation titles, but come on, a little originality wouldn't kill the guys at Square, would it?

They can't very well add new characters to a game that is based off of another, that already has a few titles based off that out. People would be saying" he wasn't there, I he was not mentioned in FFVII or DC!!" I think they are sticking to the same characters because that's what fans know. Sure they can throw a newbie in the mix, but they cannot be in role that moves the plot along or it would not work. Maybe that's just my opinion.

I think it has some potential. The story will be good (We already know most of if, don't we) and the graphice look fine. It's the gameplay that worries me. That's what DoC neede.
