04/24/2007: "Aerith Play Arts Figure, More"

Pictures of a prototype for an Aerith Play Arts action figure are now up on the Square Enix Products blog. Also, fans of the FF Trading Arts series may want to check out how a new series of upcoming Trading Arts Mini figures will look; included in this series is FFVII's Cloud, as well as Rinoa (FFVIII), Yuna (FFX-2), Vaan (FFXII), and Penelo (FFXII again). Finally, Square Enix is aiming toward a September release date (in Japan) for the second series of Advent Children Play Arts, which features Kadaj, Yuffie, and Reno.

Instead of making figurines that only hardcore fans would buy, why not make a new title in the compilation?? =)

Sam: I don't know about anyone else, but I'd much rather have the figures, thanks >_> I have quite a few Play Arts figures, and they're all very high-quality and worth the expense (they're many times better than the old Bandai FFVII action figures, at any rate!).

Ahh, I guess everyone's different. I would prefer the continuation of the compilation as long as it doesn't butcher the FF7 story. But then again, having the figures help bring back the nostalgic feeling of the game. Eh...

No worries :) I'm a collector of this sort of thing to begin with, but otherwise, I'd much rather see more merchandise based off of preexisting materials than another potentially good but just as potentially disappointing Compilation entry.

Retaining that old nostalgia is so much easier when there's no new story attached, as is the case with an action figure... well, for me, anyway.
