Dissidia Duodecim: Aerith Alternate Forms Revealed

Even though she's just an assist character, Aerith is getting an Another Form and a Third Form in Dissidia Duodecim.

Aerith's Another Form is based on a Yoshitaka Amano illustration (likely this one, specifically), while her Third Form is her Crisis Core outfit. It is currently not known how or when these outfits will be available, though it's possible they will be included via the same paid demo in which she can be accessed in the first place.

Other new character outfits were revealed recently for Gilgamesh (FFV), Bartz (FFV), Exdeath (FFV), Yuna (FFX), and Prishe (FFXI).

Dissidia Duodecim's North America Preorder Bonuses

Via press release, Square Enix has announced two preorder bonuses for Dissidia Duodecim in North America. Preorder from GameStop and receive a code to get the Kingdom Hearts costume for Cloud. Meanwhile, the Amazon.com preorder bonus is Tifa's Amano-style outfit. If you have previously preordered the game at either store, rest assured that you will receive the appropriate code.

No word yet if other bonuses already announced for Japan—such as Aerith as an Assist character—will be made available in North America and/or PAL territories. However, the paid demo in which Aerith can be unlocked has been rated in Australia, so it's very likely.

As a reminder, Dissidia Duodecim will arrive at North American retailers on March 22. The MSRP is US$29.99, and a PSN download release has not been confirmed.

Yoshinori Kitase on the Making of FFVII

1UP has translated some key sections of a recent Famitsu interview with Square Enix's Yoshinori Kitase that talk about Final Fantasy VII and the rocky transition from 2D game development to 3D. If you're interested in the technical and graphical side of FFVII's history, it makes for interesting reading. Among the revelations are that at first, only the battle scenes were going to be made with 3D graphics, and how important seamless transitions between FMVs and in-game sections were to Kitase, FFVII's director.
