Dissidia Duodecim Roundup

A few bits of news about Dissidia Duodecim today. First off, the North American release date for the game is March 22, 2011, mere weeks after the Japanese date of March 3rd. A European release date has yet to be confirmed.

Europe and other PAL territories will have access to exclusive content, though. A new marketing campaign using QR codes is beginning for Dissidia Duodecim and three other Square Enix portable games. Scanning these codes with your smartphone will access exclusives such as trailers and wallpapers.

Finally, more details about the game's features, including the Original Quest mode and MogWeb, is up at Andriasang.

Details on Aerith in Dissidia Duodecim

As previously mentioned, Aerith will make an appearance as an assist character in Dissidia Duodecim... provided that the player has paid for the game's demo, which is currently available from the Japanese PSN Store. This week's Famitsu has more details on her presence in the game.

Aerith will appear in her classic pink dress and red jacket, and offer various support skills, such as freezing enemies and making her allies temporarily invincible. Maya Sakamoto will again voice her character in the Japanese version of the game.

FFVII Compilation iPhone App, New Tifa Dissidia Duodecim Screenshot

According to Andriasang, a collection of Compilation of Final Fantasy VII wallpapers for iPhone and iPod Touch is now available for on the App Store for ¥450. Unlike the previous FFVII-themed app, which only included images from Advent Children Complete, this one covers the entire Compilation, plus FFVII itself. A quick search of the U.S. App Store came up dry, so I assume it is Japan-only, at least for the time being.

Also from Andriasang are the latest images from the Japanese Dissidia Duodecim official site. Among these is the in-game screenshot of Tifa in her red outfit, which will be included with first pressings of the game in Japan (click on the thumbnail above to see the full-sized image).

Pay for Dissidia Duodecim Demo, Get Aerith Assist

A playable Dissidia Duodecim demo is now available at the Japanese PSN Store... for a price. The demo, titled "Dissidia Duodecim Prologus Final Fantasy", will set gamers back ¥300 (US$3.64 or €2.72 as of this writing) and includes an Arcade Mode, plus an original Story Mode scenario that won't appear in the final game.

In addition to the extra bit of story, players of this demo will be able to carry over collected accessories into the finished game using save data. More interestingly, Prologus save data can be used to unlock Aerith as an assist character in the final game, though she is not available in the demo. At this time, it is not confirmed if this demo and/or its bonus features will appear outside of Japan.

New Costume for Tifa in Dissidia Duodecim

The latest Jump issue has an update on Dissidia Duodecim, including a look at a new costume for Tifa. This fourth (yes, fourth) outfit, currently only available with the first Japanese print run of the game, is apparently based on the Yoshitaka Amano print pictured to the right.

We still haven't confirmed what Tifa's "Third Form" will be, though some have speculated that it will be her cowgirl outfit from the Nibelheim flashback.
