04/08/2016: "Length of FFVII Remake Installments Will Be "Full Scale""

Game Informer's May cover story is about Final Fantasy XV, but as it happens, there's some Final Fantasy VII Remake news in there as well. Referencing that issue, GameSpot reports that each episode of the Remake will be a full-length installment. The Final Fantasy XIII trilogy in particular is being looked to as a model for the Remake's structure.

According to Yoshinori Kitase, "It will essentially be a full scale game for each part of the multi-part series. In XIII, each instalment told the story from a different angle. It was kind of like approaching an unknown territory in a sense." And: "Whereas with Final Fantasy VII Remake, we already have a preexisting story, so it wouldn't really make sense if that isn't encompassed in a multi-part series... So if we're just looking at each of these parts, one part should be on par with the scale of one Final Fantasy XIII game."

What is still unknown at this time is how many parts the Remake will encompass, and how much new material—for example, quests that could tie into the Compilation's additions to the canon—will be present. Some fans have speculated that each of the original game's three disks will be an installment, but keep in mind that Disk Three is mostly just brief sidequests, the final battle, and the ending. As always, we'll keep you posted.

I think it's better than an episodic that we thought like telltalegames,I think they may explore side stories and other character stories which we never get see in the original game, like the AVALANCHE members( Jessie Biggs, Wedge), Elmyra, Ifalna and other characters

Keep in mind, FF7 was split into three discs because of the FMV's, not because of the story or because they couldn't fit the game's data (everything BUT the FMV's) on one disc. My thought is that they will make at least three episodes, but I doubt they'll split it up the same way they split the discs.

Hmm I haven't visited the site in a while glad to see there is still some life in it!

I think the episodic feature will work out nicely, also how great would it be if for the flash backs from Zack they Remake Crisis Core and add it to the game? Would we very well received and clearly flush out the story core story start to finish.
