07/06/2011: "Final Fantasy Rhythm Game Announced for 3DS"

Yes, you read that right. A 3DS game called Theatrhythm Final Fantasy has been revealed in this week's Jump, and is described as "Theater Rhythm Action". There are dungeons, towns, and battle scenes, with touchscreen-controlled rhythm elements. The music is, of course, from previous Final Fantasies.

The characters are rendered in a chibi style, with Cloud and FFXIII's Lightning confirmed to be appearing. The story seems to be a traditional Final Fantasy-style one involving a crystal.

Not much else about the game is known at this time.
