06/10/2010: "Kingdom Hearts Re:coded Coming Soon, Dissidia Tops the Piracy Charts"

Yesterday, Square Enix began to unveil their lineup for this year's E3 Expo, which includes heavy-hitters like the Parasite Eve spinoff The 3rd Birthday, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and Final Fantasy XIV. Buried in the list were the previously announced Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep for PSP, and—more surprisingly—Kingdom Hearts Re:coded for DS. Kingdom Hearts Re:coded is a port of the Japan-only cellphone game Kingdom Hearts Coded, and features Sora as the main character.

Next up, some news more directly related to FFVII. According to Japan's Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association (CESA), Dissidia Final Fantasy is the most pirated portable game in that country, with 5,281,223 illegal downloads. Crisis Core also made the list with 1,223,881 illegal downloads, by itself accounting for an estimated 7,098 million yen in potential lost sales. CESA also reported on DS piracy; yet another Square Enix title, Dragon Quest IX, appeared in the top five there. If you want to know more, Siliconera has posted figures for both the DS and the PSP.
