04/10/2009: "Final Fantasy VII International Now Available Through PSN"

Here's some promising news for those hoping for a rerelease of Final Fantasy VII: the Japanese PlayStation Network has made Final Fantasy VII International available for the price of ¥1,500. This download is playable on both the PS3 and PSP.

FFVII International is the US version of the original FFVII, but in Japanese. It is also notable for its having included a fourth disk, which contains bonus materials such as comprehensive image galleries and video clips showing early builds of FFVII.

Square Enix has released other PS1 games on Japan's PlayStation Network before, including cult classics Einhänder and Xenogears, but as far as I know, this marks the first time a Final Fantasy has shown up on the service. Unfortunately, no Square Enix PS1 games are currently available on either the North American or European PSN, but we certainly hope that this will change in the near future.

Great news! Only $15 in US currency. It will allow many people who played the compilation to play the original FF7 if it gets released in NA.

This is great, although its not on the NA PSN it gives gamers in JP that didn't have the chance to play FFVII the chance now! Everyone pray this hits NA PSN!

Thought it was worth mentioning; PSP owners are going to need a 2GB or bigger memory stick to play FF7. The site lists the game as 1715MB.
