10/23/2007: "Final Fantasy VII Potion Taste Test"

Over at Kotaku, Brian Ashcraft reviews the Final Fantasy VII Tenth Anniversary Potion. He notes that it's not as horrible as last year's FFXII Potion, and that it "tastes like a watered down version of another Suntory drink, Dekavita C. For those who have never had Dekavita C, it has a heavy medicinal flavor with a hint of citrus."

For those interested in replenishing their own HP but who missed out on the limited edition package, the canned versions of the drink will be available later this week at Play-Asia. As for the FFVII Potions that come with special Trading Arts figures, they will go on sale there sometime in November; unfortunately, preorders for those versions are no longer being taken.

The can looks cool, the color looks like Mountain Dew soda. You'd think they'd make it taste better. i've never had one but the description of 'medicinal' is enough to keep me away.

Is it that impossible to make a good tasting drink? Maybe Square should ditch the beverage bussiness and stick to games. ...Or maybe Suntory should find something else to market =P

Well, the FF Potions are supposed to be energy drinks, which people don't usually drink for the taste...

If anyone wants one of the Potions with the trading arts figures and they wouldn't mind sending a money order or paypal money I wouldn't mind shipping them out--I'm living in Shiga Prefecture right now and the figures just came out yesterday. Just send me an email if you're interested! ^_^
