09/18/2007: "Crisis Core Secret Ending Video"

Previously mentioned in recent updates, the actual video for Crisis Core's bonus ending is now online. It is markedly different from the PS3 tech demo—and from the opening of FFVII itself. Enjoy!

Well... that was interesting. I don't quite know what to make of it in regards to the "R" word though...

I don't think that they are hinting at a remark, but reminding or telling people who new to the FF fan base that FFVII is part of Crisis Core's story. I want a remake just like teh rest of you, but it seems unlikey that that is what they are saying. They are just trying to tie in the old game with the new one.

Yeah, a remake is coming. Squaresoft knows what's up, and they are continuously dropping hints and saying they aren't hints. The fact they put this FMV into the game tells me all I need to know. They wouldn't make the "tech-demo" if they didn't plan on making "more." However, I don't think this alone implies the re-make. I'm just looking at the bigger picture.

I would be more inclined to lean towards the "There will be a remake" side of things. Mainly because even if they are reminding people that the Crisis Core story is linked to and continued in Final Fantasy 7, for any new players obtaining a copy of the original game is no simple task.
As such, I am going to say that it looks as if a remake MAY be in the works, however I will hold back from saying it is anywhere near definite.

I'm currently on the fence as to the remake issue. Like Ex-SOLDIER said, copies of FFVII are scarce. However, this is not the case in Japan, where FFVII International is still in print (at a budget price) and easy to find. So yeah, it could very well be a reminder about the original game, but something tells me Square Enix is not that subtle. If the "reminder" thing is the case, then FFVII will surely be reprinted (or released on PlayStation Network?) in other parts of the world.

At any rate, it seems like a remake is inevitable at this point; the question is "when" moreso than "if". I just hope that when they do remake the game, they don't alter it as much as they're currently doing with FFIV.
